What "insufficient SOL balance to cover priority fee and bribe fee" means
This page is about trading on Solana in Axiom. The message means the wallet you traded from did not have enough SOL for everything the transaction needed. The exact wording you see can differ between versions of the app.
On Solana, fees are paid in SOL. So the check is about the SOL in that wallet, not the token you are buying or selling.
What needs SOL
For a buy, the SOL needed can include:
- the trade amount, if you are buying with SOL
- rent for any new token accounts the trade needs
- the priority fee and bribe from your settings, plus Solana's base fee
- an amount Axiom keeps in the wallet
For a buy, rent and the amount kept in the wallet can mean you need more SOL than the trade amount plus fees.
Priority fee and bribe are different
You can find the priority fee in your trading settings under PRIORITY. Axiom's documentation describes it as an extra payment to validators that makes a faster confirmation more likely, especially when the network is busy.
The bribe is a separate tip, set under BRIBE. It is tied to your MEV Mode setting, and Axiom shows a minimum bribe for MEV protection.
Selling
A sell also needs SOL for its fees. A wallet can hold the token and still be short of SOL, and in that case the message you see may be different from the one above.
Things to check
- Make sure you are looking at the SOL balance of the wallet you actually traded from.
- Compare that balance with the priority fee and bribe in your current settings, plus the trade amount if you are buying. For a buy, rent and the amount kept in the wallet can add to what is needed.
Crypto trading is high risk and you can lose everything you put in. Nothing here is financial advice.
